District Meeting at Erith, St.
Johns (8/4/06)
The Ringing at Erith (0.7meg Quicktime file)
District
Practice at Hayes (25/2/06)
The District practice at Hayes was interrupted by the constabulary or at least "An Inspector calls" in the church
hall next door. Unfortunately, this meant that what would have been a useful
practice was limited to brief ringing before the start of the play and during
the interval. Luckily though the Hayes ringers could lay on both tea/coffee and
hand bells to fill in the gaps. Plain Hunt, Plain Bob and Stedman Doubles were
rung on the tower bells and Plain Hunt and Plain Bob Minor in hand.
District
Practice at Erith, Christ Church (28/1/06)
There was a disappointing turnout for the
first district practice of the year as we just struggled into double figures.
It was useful for those that did turn up though as there were chances for
people to ring touches of Grandsire Doubles with steady bands around them.
Plain Bob Triples was also rung as well as a nice touch of Spliced Minor.
With Erith having a dearth of good pubs the
evening ended up at The Earl Haig in the Pantiles for a pint before heading
home.
District
Meeting at West Wickham (14/1/06)

A good number of people made the trip to the westerly edge of
the district for the service, tea, meeting and ringing at West Wickham. The
brief “highlights” of the meeting were:
·
a suggestion (from another district) to reduce the
number of districts in the KCACR
·
an update on a proposed new ring of bells in
Deptford
·
the future of the carol concert was discussed
·
new district reps are required
·
the prize structure of the 120 club was discussed
and changed
·
the district events for the next year were
announced
(the full minutes are available here)
Some more ringing took place after the
meeting and the evening concluded in The Swan.
District
Practice at Crayford (12/11/05)
There was good turnout, two bands and a
spare, despite the relatively late change of venue. As usual the ringing was
tailored to those that were there so it ranged from Rounds and Call Changes to
8 Spliced Surprise Major with Grandsire, Plain Bob, Kent and Stedman in
between.
District
Practice at Eltham (15/10/05)
A disappointing 11 people made it to the
practice, although the relatively late notice of venue probably didn't help. It
was worthwhile for those that did turn up though as they had the chance to ring
things that they would not necessarily have been able to ring at their local
practice.
Unfortunately, the service had to move forward
quarter of an hour at the last minute due to a band rehearsal in the church but
most people seemed to have got the message and made it in time. Rev Anthony
Lane took the service and the lack of an organ lead to some hearty singing by
the congregation.
The tea and meeting took place in the more
cosy Youth Hall at the back of the main church hall. 22 people attended the
meeting and the full minutes are here.
